Job Summary

InsideHigherEd is seeking a highly skilled Academic Pathway Advisor to join our team. As an Academic Pathway Advisor, you will play a critical role in providing academic advising and planning services to community college students. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and contribute to the success of our institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Academic Advising and Planning: Provide academic advising and planning services to community college students, including creating academic plans and teaching students to explore academic degree options.
  • Student Support: Teach students to access and use student services and other academic resources, both on campus and virtually.
  • Group Advising and Workshops: Facilitate engaging, effective group advising, transfer and career exploration sessions, and workshops.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with the development and maintenance of advising guides, career and transfer information, forms, publications, and webpages.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or Associate degree with 3 years of experience in academic advising, student support, college access, case management, or a closely related role.
  • Experience: 2 years of experience in academic advising, student support, college access, case management, or a closely related role, with experience serving a diverse population in a multicultural environment.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree: In a related field such as higher education, counseling, or student affairs.
  • Experience working in higher education: Particularly at a community college.
  • Knowledge of student development theories: And promising practices in academic advising.
