The Academic Pathway Advisor plays a crucial role in guiding community college students through their academic journey. This position is dedicated to assisting new students in identifying their interests, skills, and aspirations to effectively align them with suitable academic programs and career opportunities. The Advisor provides support in early career exploration, educational planning, course selection, and comprehension of graduation requirements. Advising services are delivered through various methods, including group workshops, one-on-one meetings, and virtual interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver academic advising services to students within their initial 30 credits;
  • Develop academic plans based on established degree pathway frameworks;
  • Guide students in exploring degree options, selecting courses, and navigating institutional processes;
  • Conduct group advising sessions and educational workshops;
  • Assess transcripts for appropriate course placement;
  • Maintain accurate student records and communicate relevant academic policies;
  • Engage in advising events and workshops to promote student success;

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or an Associate degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in academic advising;
  • At least 2 years of experience in an educational advising capacity;
  • Proven experience working with diverse student populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field;
  • Experience in higher education, particularly within a community college setting;
  • Familiarity with student development theories and effective academic advising practices;
  • Experience with ctcLink (PeopleSoft) systems.
