Position Summary

We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our team, focusing on a greenfield SaaS platform. This role will report to the DevOps Manager and will primarily involve building, securing, and maintaining a multi-tenant SaaS application utilizing AWS services. At Liquibase, we prioritize developer feedback and encourage input on best practices and potential improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain scalable infrastructure for our SaaS platform using AWS services, including API Gateway, Lambda, RDS, OpenSearch, and Secrets Manager.
  • Implement security measures for the application using AWS security tools such as WAF, Shield, and GuardDuty.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems to ensure platform reliability and performance.
  • Utilize monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana to assess application and infrastructure health.
  • Identify and address potential issues proactively to prevent user impact.
  • Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform.
  • Contribute to system architecture and feature development discussions.
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving production incidents promptly.
  • Collaborate with Product, Development, and QA teams to ensure effective project definition, documentation, prioritization, and execution.
  • Engage with stakeholders beyond Product and Engineering to represent ongoing work accurately and collaborate on improvements.
  • Participate in the Agile Development lifecycle, maintaining realistic goals and flexible execution.
  • Encourage a collaborative culture while effectively working independently.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • AWS Solutions Architect and/or AWS DevOps Professional Certifications.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in a distributed work environment.
  • 8+ years of practical experience in site reliability engineering or DevOps roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS services, including API Gateway, Lambda, RDS, OpenSearch, and Secrets Manager.
  • Expertise in AWS security services, including WAF, Shield, and GuardDuty.
  • Proficient with monitoring and alerting tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective monitoring strategies for system reliability.
  • Extensive experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Experience in building, securing, and maintaining multi-tenant SaaS applications.
  • Familiarity with identity providers like FusionAuth, Okta, or Auth0.
  • Strong understanding of information security principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH.
  • Experience with other cloud platforms like Azure and GCP.
  • Familiarity with Docker and container orchestration.
  • Previous experience in startups, particularly in launching applications with user adoption.
