Job Summary

Y Combinator is a leading startup accelerator and venture capital firm seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our finance team. As a key member of our accounting operations, you will play a crucial role in managing accounts payable functions, maintaining financial records, and supporting overall accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accounts Payable Management: Review, process, and code invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Vendor Management: Maintain and update vendor files, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date, including W-9s and contracts.
  • Payment Processing: Assist in the preparation and processing of check runs, electronic payments, and wire transfers, ensuring timely payment of all invoices.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with internal departments to obtain necessary approvals and resolve any payment-related issues.
  • Accounts Monitoring: Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up-to-date and follow up on outstanding invoices.
  • Process Improvement: Support the implementation of process improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Financial Analysis: Review corporate credit card charges for accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Tax Compliance: Prepare yearly 1099 tax returns to applicable vendors.
  • Fixed Asset Management: Maintain fixed asset listings and assist in the preparation of 571 returns.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly.
  • Expense Tracking: Review and track online subscription expenses.

  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in accounts payable and accounting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Sheets and Quickbooks.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Teamwork: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • GAAP Knowledge: Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
