HVAC Technician

The HVAC Technician is responsible for executing skilled tasks in the fabrication, maintenance, construction, alteration, and repair of fixtures, equipment, and structures within the facilities. This role operates under general supervision, allowing for a degree of initiative and independent judgment.
Key Responsibilities
- Adjust and monitor operational parameters of water treatment systems to enhance the performance of mechanical systems and equipment, guided by the mechanical tradesman leader and foreman.
- Conduct maintenance, operations, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including HVAC, boilers, controls, and valves.
- Maintain and update schematic drawings and information related to the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems of the facilities.
- Prepare and submit work documentation, including work orders and modifications to mechanical systems, while overseeing documentation prepared by assigned personnel.
- Respond to emergency situations during business hours and after hours, including weekends and holidays, to resolve issues such as fire alarms and trouble alarms, following established troubleshooting protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, which may include work on fire alarm systems and electrical tasks.
- Monitor plumbing fixtures servicing mechanical equipment to ensure efficient water usage and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with other trades and maintenance personnel to complete installation and maintenance tasks for building systems.
- Address environmental concerns, such as temperature complaints, and fulfill on-call responsibilities as necessary.
- Oversee and maintain the building energy management system, generating reports and analyzing energy consumption trends.
- Execute preventive maintenance on assigned systems and equipment.
- Support mechanical systems managed by 24/7 operators and may be required to cover shifts as needed.
- Engage in training, personal development, and continuing education initiatives.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the criteria set by Risk Management and insurance carriers. Must pass a criminal background check.
- Adhere to all institutional policies, procedures, and guidelines.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience in operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining water treatment systems in air handling units and closed loops.
- A minimum of four years of combined experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Journeyman level experience or equivalent vocational training.
Compensation will be determined based on the qualifications of the selected individual and the budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.

Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and mathematical skills, typically evidenced by the completion of high school or equivalent. A minimum of three years of experience in the designated trade or as a licensed journeyman.
