We are currently looking for a dedicated individual to fill the role of Full-Time Senior Residential Counselor within our Westbury Community Residence Program. In this pivotal position, you will assist residents in cultivating independent living skills that enhance their self-sufficiency, confidence, and dignity. Your responsibilities will include providing practical training and support in daily living activities, alongside offering counseling, behavioral interventions, and crisis management for adults with significant mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee household management tasks to ensure adherence to program standards, regulations, and financial guidelines.
  • Organize and conduct monthly safety drills.
  • Manage daily operations such as shopping, meal preparation, laundry, maintenance, and recreational activities.
  • Facilitate connections with local service providers to support residents in accessing necessary services and planning for transitions.
  • Coordinate staff schedules and coverage for the residence in collaboration with administration.
  • Lead staff meetings as required to ensure effective communication and teamwork.
  • Handle payroll and petty cash requests accurately and timely.
  • Conduct regular house meetings to engage residents in discussions about their needs and progress.
  • Ensure residents are informed about program requirements and maintain compliance.
  • Provide training and support in daily living skills and assist with financial management as needed.
  • Deliver counseling, behavioral interventions, and crisis management services.
  • Be available for on-call duties and promptly notify the Administrator or Program Director of any medical or psychiatric emergencies; share on-call responsibilities across multiple residences.
  • Participate in inter-agency meetings as requested by management.
  • Document daily progress notes regarding residents' activities.
  • Oversee medication management procedures within the residence.
  • Maintain a clean and organized staff office environment.
  • Supervise service planning, case conferences, discharge planning, and Medicaid billing as required.
  • Model and assist in maintaining a clean and healthy living space for residents.
  • Engage in other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma with relevant experience is required.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Human Services is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges or disabilities that necessitate assistance in daily living is highly desirable.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, stoop, squat, walk, and move intermittently during work hours; may need to push or pull weights of 10-15 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • A valid NYS Driver's License in good standing is required.

Work Schedule: Sunday 7am-3pm, Monday 7am-3pm, Tuesday 7am-3pm, Wednesday 12pm-8pm, Thursday 11am-7pm
