We are currently looking for a dedicated individual to fill the role of Full-Time Senior Residential Counselor within our Westbury Community Residence Program. This pivotal position involves assisting residents in cultivating independent living skills that enhance their self-sufficiency, confidence, and overall well-being. You will engage in hands-on training, support daily living activities, and provide essential counseling, behavioral interventions, and crisis management for adults with severe mental health conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee household management to ensure adherence to program standards and budgetary constraints.
  • Organize monthly fire drills and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Coordinate daily activities such as shopping, meal preparation, laundry, and maintenance of the residence.
  • Facilitate connections with local service providers to assist residents in accessing necessary services and planning for transitions.
  • Manage staff scheduling and coverage for the residence in collaboration with administration.
  • Conduct staff meetings as needed to address programmatic concerns.
  • Handle payroll and petty cash requests accurately and timely.
  • Lead regular house meetings to engage residents in discussions about their needs and progress.
  • Ensure residents understand program requirements and support compliance.
  • Provide training and assistance in daily living skills and financial management as required.
  • Deliver counseling and crisis intervention services effectively.
  • Be available for on-call duties, responding to medical and psychiatric emergencies as needed.
  • Participate in inter-agency meetings as requested by management.
  • Document resident activities through daily progress notes.
  • Manage medication procedures and ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the staff office.
  • Supervise service planning, case conferences, discharge planning, and Medicaid billing processes.
  • Model and assist in maintaining a clean and healthy living environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma with relevant experience is required.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges or disabilities is highly desirable.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, stoop, squat, walk, and move intermittently during work hours; may involve lifting or moving up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • A valid NYS Driver's License in good standing is necessary.
