Program Overview
The Finance Development Program (FDP) at AbbVie is designed to equip participants with the skills necessary for future financial management positions through a series of four rotations over a two-year period. This program aims to cultivate exceptional functional and leadership capabilities by engaging in diverse projects and collaborating with various leaders within the organization. The finance experiences gained will accelerate your journey toward future leadership roles in finance at AbbVie.
FDP Rotational Areas
The rotations within the Finance Development Program are structured across four key functional areas:
- Commercial: The Commercial Finance team offers global leadership and financial support to AbbVie's commercial operations, including the Allergan Aesthetics sector. This team is responsible for forecasting key brands in Immunology, Oncology, and Neuroscience and Eye Care.
- Operations: Operations Finance provides guidance to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Purchasing, focusing on financial planning and internal management reporting. The team delivers decision support through the analysis of vital financial data while enhancing operating margins and ensuring supply assurance.
- Research & Development: This area supports AbbVie's R&D efforts, concentrating on pipeline compounds from discovery through clinical studies to regulatory approvals, and also assists with existing products seeking new indications.
- Corporate: The Corporate Finance team encompasses various functions, including Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Finance Shared Services, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, Tax and Global Trade Compliance, and Treasury, each playing a crucial role in the financial health of the organization.
Professional Development
Throughout your tenure in the FDP, you will engage in four distinct professional assignments within finance, which may include:
- Financial Analysis
- Budgeting and Forecasting
- Reporting and Controls
- Manufacturing Operations Accounting
Most participants will begin their first rotation in one of AbbVie's offices, with potential opportunities for global placements based on business needs and individual preferences.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance and/or accounting.
- Completion of at least three accounting courses, including one focused on cost or managerial accounting.
- Strong communication skills adaptable to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in academic or organizational settings.
- Willingness to relocate for rotations.
- Submission of unofficial or official transcript upon application.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Dual major or minor in a related field.
- Experience with data visualization tools and analytics.
- Completion of relevant certification programs.
- Ability to blend technical and business acumen with analytical problem-solving skills.
- Proven project management capabilities.
- Collaborative team player with high ethical standards.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher preferred.
