Program Overview

The Finance Development Program (FDP) at AbbVie comprises four distinct rotations over a two-year period, designed to equip participants for roles in financial management. This program is tailored to cultivate exceptional functional and leadership skills through diverse project involvement, while also providing exposure to various leaders within the organization. These finance experiences will enhance your professional development and position you for future leadership opportunities in finance at AbbVie.

FDP Rotations

The rotations within the Finance Development Program are structured across four key functional areas:

  • Commercial: The Commercial Finance team offers global leadership and financial support to AbbVie's commercial operations, including the Allergan Aesthetics division. This area is responsible for forecasting key brands in Immunology, Oncology, and Neuroscience and Eye Care.
  • Operations: Operations Finance provides guidance to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Purchasing, focusing on financial planning and internal management reporting. The team analyzes key financial data to support decision-making and drive operational efficiency.
  • Research & Development: This area supports AbbVie's R&D efforts, focusing on pipeline compounds from discovery through clinical studies to regulatory approvals, as well as supporting existing products for new indications.
  • Corporate: This encompasses various functions, including Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Finance Shared Services, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, Tax and Global Trade Compliance, and Treasury, each playing a vital role in the overall financial health of the organization.

Professional Development

During your tenure in the FDP, you will engage in four professional assignments within finance, which may include:

  • Financial Analysis
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Reporting and Controls
  • Manufacturing Operations Accounting

Most participants will begin their first rotation in a designated AbbVie office, with potential opportunities for relocation based on business needs and individual preferences.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • A completed bachelor's degree in finance and/or accounting.
  • Successful completion of at least three accounting courses.
  • Strong communication skills adaptable to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in academic or organizational settings.
  • Willingness to relocate for rotations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dual major or minor in a related field.
  • Experience with data visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with Big Data analytics.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong collaborative skills and a high ethical standard.
