Position Overview:

As a key member of the Energy Resources Center, this role focuses on fostering collaborations with both private and public sectors to generate innovative research concepts and transform them into viable funding opportunities aimed at enhancing energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with ERC project teams to identify and cultivate energy and environmental research initiatives, facilitating their transition into fundable projects that address energy efficiency, usage, conversion, storage, and emission reduction.
2. Provide expert technical and engineering insights into energy efficiency technologies and methodologies.
3. Contribute original ideas and concepts to technical proposals, playing a significant role in drafting major sections and ensuring comprehensive completion of all proposal components, including technical specifications, budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
4. Act as the principal investigator and primary contact for selected projects or components of ERC programs, overseeing tasks and ensuring accountability for outcomes.
5. Offer recommendations to sponsoring agencies and respond to inquiries, ensuring timely delivery of final project outputs such as reports, papers, and presentations within budget constraints.
6. Apply engineering principles and extensive technical knowledge of energy and environmental technologies to address specific research challenges and opportunities, engaging in analysis, technical writing, and independent research.
7. Participate as a technical team member across various disciplines, providing guidance in areas of expertise and occasionally leading field activities such as site assessments and energy evaluations.
8. Oversee project plans, timelines, and cost structures, ensuring accuracy and compliance in final deliverables.

Staff Management:

Plan, assign, and review the work of team members to achieve group objectives. Recruit, train, and develop staff to maintain a qualified team capable of meeting departmental goals.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (preferably in mechanical, industrial, electrical, chemical, civil, energy, or equivalent) with at least two years of experience in energy, manufacturing, utility, research, or service sectors. Alternatively, a Master's degree in Engineering, Business, or Finance with a minimum of one year of relevant work or research experience is acceptable. Experience in modeling battery storage systems or distributed generation technologies is essential. Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal, along with a solid understanding of energy engineering principles, are required. Proficiency in computer applications (MS Office Suite, energy engineering software) is advantageous. Occasional travel may be necessary.
