Amergis is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Support Professional to join our team. As a Support Professional, you will work closely with students who require instructional and behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department.
Key Responsibilities- Implement IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, and independent skills, in a one-on-one or general classroom setting.
- Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance.
- Assist students during general education classes and accompany them during recess and lunch periods.
- Communicate pertinent information to teachers and maintain confidentiality regarding student, parent, and classroom activities.
- Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel, such as PT, OT, and SLP.
- Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygiene.
- Participate in behavior management techniques under the direction of the teacher and/or other school professionals.
- Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
- Assist with transfers and ambulation.
- Report changes in client status or as directed by IHP/IEP.
- Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participate and complete Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Hold current CPR certification if applicable.
- Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successfully complete new hire training as applicable to the job site.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Possess strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
- Be computer proficient.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
