Position Overview

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in the modernization of cloud services at NGA? We are seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineer with expertise in cloud technologies to provide comprehensive engineering, architecture, and integration support for the future development of NGA's Commercial Cloud Enterprise (C2E) environment.

As a vital member of the Enterprise Engineering & Architecture Group's Lead Integrator Team, you will collaborate with fellow C2E System Engineers, Enterprise Engineers, Architects, Integrators, and the Cloud PMO to facilitate C2E acquisition integration. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborating with Expert and Senior C2E System Engineers to conduct various enterprise engineering analyses, such as Vendor Comparisons of Service Offerings and End-to-End Enterprise Requirements Traceability, while helping to define enterprise requirements and enhance NGA's Multiple Cloud / Integrated Platform as a Service (iPaaS) Architecture Patterns.
  • As an emerging thought leader, explore and provide insights into the utilization of iPaaS as a scalable method for managing and orchestrating a multi-cloud environment, assisting in evaluating diverse implementation options with your C2E System Engineer colleagues.
  • Identify and document IT Risks, Issues, and Opportunities associated with C2E engineering and integration.
  • Contribute to the creation of briefings and engineering deliverables for Agency Engineering and Architecture Review Boards, Readiness Reviews, and various Acquisition Milestones.
  • Engage with Mission Partners to understand the C2E strategy; collaborate with your C2E System Engineer teammates to pinpoint services that NGA can utilize for operational efficiencies, coordinate system migrations across agencies and multiple clouds, and document the related architectures.
  • Provide technical insights and assessments to address C2E technical and business challenges.
  • Participate in cross-organization initiatives to stay informed, consistent, and aligned towards common objectives (e.g., advancing architecture patterns within the Enterprise, including Multiple Cloud and PaaS/iPaaS environments).
As a Mid-Level C2E Systems Engineer, you should possess:
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud Service Providers (e.g., AWS, Microsoft, Oracle, Google) and/or relevant Cloud training.
  • A solid understanding and demonstrated experience with engineering processes, including Architecture, Requirements, Integration, Testing, and Transition.
  • A willingness to learn under the guidance of Expert and Senior C2E System Engineers, gaining practical experience in enterprise engineering and architecture related to C2E, iPaaS, and other transformative initiatives.
  • A genuine interest in developing engineering thought leadership and planning capabilities.
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related STEM field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of technical experience is required. If the 6 years of experience is as a Cloud Architect, it may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 6 years of experience in architecting cloud-based systems.
  • TS/SCI clearance adjudication or the ability to obtain SCI and pass a polygraph examination.
Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Microsoft, Oracle, and/or Google).
  • Familiarity with multi-cloud concepts.
  • Experience or working knowledge of Platform-As-A-Service (PaaS).
  • Experience or working knowledge of DevSecOps principles and practices.
  • Experience or working knowledge of the Systems Engineering lifecycle.
  • Experience with agile project management tools, such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Cloud Certification(s).
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Certification(s).
