Job Title: Senior Communications Specialist

Greenpeace USA is seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing external communications strategies to connect our campaign messages and overall mission with key targeted audiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and coordinate external communications strategies to promote Greenpeace's campaign messages and mission
  • Act as a spokesperson for Greenpeace, providing media interviews and speaking on panels as needed
  • Collaborate with the social media team to plan and implement weekly social media output and community management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with reporters, television producers, and other news decision-makers in the United States
  • Facilitate incoming media requests, including background materials and appropriate spokespeople
Requirements:
  • Minimum 4 years of experience working in a media outlet, PR firm, or as a content creator with demonstrated ability to secure earned media
  • B.A. or B.S. degree or comparable communications experience
  • Experience pitching reporters, editors, and producers on a variety of types of stories
  • Basic understanding of the main social media platforms
  • Experience identifying and training employees to act as spokespeople
