Position Overview:

As a Power System Controls Engineer, you will deliver innovative solutions and services that empower our clients to safeguard and manage essential electrical infrastructure and power systems globally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement automation solutions tailored for power system management initiatives, with a focus on the SEL PowerMAX solution.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to establish project requirements, specifications, and timelines.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments and analyze potential automation products and technologies for power system management projects.
  • Create comprehensive engineering designs, schematics, and layouts for power management systems applicable to industrial and commercial environments.
  • Refine and adapt existing power system algorithms according to project specifications, and develop new control algorithms as necessary utilizing IEC programming languages such as structured text and function block diagrams.
  • Configure and program automation devices, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), real-time automation controllers (RTACs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Execute testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of automation solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant industry standards and regulations in power system automation.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions in power system management and microgrid control projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of power system components, microgrid architectures, and automation technologies.
  • Practical experience with automation devices, including PLCs, RTACs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Proficiency in industrial control system programming, particularly with IEC programming languages like structured text and function block diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience integrating control systems using industry-standard data communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP, and IEC-61850, utilizing both serial and Ethernet-based standards.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a capacity to analyze complex challenges in power system and microgrid automation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and clients.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver projects punctually.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as IEEE, IEC, and NERC, pertaining to power system automation and microgrid integration.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $97,500 - $150,000 per year, with flexibility based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
