Job Overview

Puff 'N Stuff Catering is seeking a highly skilled and organized culinary professional to lead our back-of-house teams at off-site catering events. As a Lead Event Chef, you will be responsible for managing, leading, and motivating the culinary staff on your event, collaborating with the Event Supervisor to ensure exceptional service and timely execution. You will communicate with your team to ensure that all tasks are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct on-site culinary team members, verifying attendance and ensuring that uniforms are properly worn at all times.
  • Direct the unloading and setup of culinary areas and workstations, including mobile kitchens.
  • Provide positive leadership, offering regular feedback and coaching to the team.
  • Lead the team in preparing, heating, plating, and garnishing the correct quantities of food in accordance with the event timeline and Special Event Order (SEO).
  • Ensure that the entire team follows safe food handling procedures before, during, and after the event.
  • Work with the Event Supervisor to ensure that all necessary food and equipment listed on the SEO are loaded onto the truck.
  • Drive to and from the event in the company truck with the Event Supervisor.

Requirements

  • 2 years of culinary leadership experience in catering or a high-volume, upscale restaurant environment.
  • Working knowledge of all cooking techniques, including grilling, roasting, and baking for fish, steak, poultry, and pork.
  • Proficiency in batch, quantity cooking, and proper heating, holding, and plating techniques.
  • Familiarity with HACCP and health department guidelines.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to regularly lift, move, and carry up to 50lbs.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a developmental leadership style that promotes a culture of dialogue and role models the company's values and practices.
  • Food Handler Certification.
  • Fluent English language skills, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid FL Driver's License and clean driving record.
