Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Support Specialist to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. As a Clinical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing indirect and direct patient care, working closely with our healthcare providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the completion of patient chief complaints, including vital signs, medical history, and other relevant information.
  • Document patient/family needs and participate in planning and implementing care for patients.
  • Administer ordered medications within the scope of practice and state guidelines.
  • Identify significant changes in patient condition and report them to the provider.
  • Troubleshoot issues and escalate problems to the provider, direct supervisor, or appropriate internal resource.
  • Maintain clinical and administrative skills per departmental competency guidelines.
  • Prepare patients for physician examinations and maintain a safe and supportive environment.
  • Assist with virtual health visits, including setting up the visit, pre-charting, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Document in electronic medical records accurately and appropriately.
  • Manage in-basket messages and perform front desk workflows, including scheduling, phone triage, and cash handling.
Requirements
  • Medical Assisting certification from a recognized organization (required within 9 months of start date).
  • BLS certification (preferred upon hire and required within 30 days of employment).
  • High School/GED (required).
  • Enrollment in an approved Medical Assistant program (required within 30 days of employment).
  • 1 year of healthcare or clerical physician practice experience (preferred).
