POSITION TITLE: Licensed Practical Nurse

DEPARTMENT: Nursing

POSITION SUMMARY: The Licensed Practical Nurse plays a vital role within the interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing essential care to patients. Responsibilities include administering treatments and medications, educating patients, triaging, and facilitating clinic operations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; required
  • Completion of an accredited LPN training program and current licensure as an LPN in Oklahoma; required
  • Proficient clinical skills in an outpatient care environment; preferred
  • Enthusiastic about collaborating with a diverse healthcare team and serving a culturally varied patient population
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

SUPERVISION: Reports to the Assistant Director of Nursing

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct routine patient intake assessments, including vital signs and measurements
  • Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and treatments
  • Support administrative tasks such as patient referrals, documentation, and communication
  • Adhere to protocols for thorough patient check-ins and work-ups
  • Foster teamwork and a commitment to high-quality patient care
  • Organize and prioritize tasks effectively to enhance clinic workflow
  • Maintain inventory of emergency supplies, medications, and clinical materials
  • Aid in the onboarding of new nursing staff
  • Assess and communicate patient health status and needs to providers
  • Educate patients based on their needs and nursing care standards
  • Deliver skilled nursing care, including technical procedures and medication administration
  • Anticipate provider needs during patient visits and assist accordingly
  • Advocate for patients to ensure their health needs are met promptly
  • Document all nursing actions and provider orders accurately
  • Triage patients both in-person and via phone according to established protocols
  • Comply with Infection Control guidelines and OSHA standards
  • Exhibit compassionate qualities aligned with the values of COFMC
  • Perform laboratory tests while adhering to clinic policies and CLIA regulations
  • Keep patients and families informed about their clinic visits
  • Respond effectively in emergency situations
  • Demonstrate competencies across various age groups from infants to adults
  • Participate in mandatory training and departmental in-services
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned
