Job Summary

The Care Promoter, Specialist Podiatry is an unlicensed medical professional who provides administrative and clinical support to our Specialist Podiatrists. This role is an integral part of our Physician-led Care Team, working to provide excellent and comprehensive primary care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure and record patient vital signs, and document patient interview and medical history.
  • Collaborate with the care team to ensure accurate and up-to-date medical records and consult notes.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, perform routine screening tests, and assist the physician with exams.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure their comfort and well-being prior to leaving.
  • Observe patients and report any changes in patient conditions to the Specialist, PCP, Clinician, and/or other clinical personnel.
  • Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures under physician supervision, including collecting phlebotomy and other lab specimens, and performing basic waived lab tests.
  • Prepare and administer medications, change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform other first aid procedures under physician supervision.
  • Communicate with patients and families to provide health coaching and support healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, and communicate patient needs to the Specialist, PCP, Clinician, and/or other clinical personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent education required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant from a nationally recognized certifying agency required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or similar in a hospital, medical clinic, or comparable environment required.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus.
  • Experience working with Cardiologist, Podiatrist, or other specialists preferred.
  • EMR system experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross required within the first 90 days of employment.
