Role Overview

As we revolutionize the energy grid, we are seeking a Logistics Operations Specialist to facilitate the commercialization and scaling of our multi-day energy storage technology. You will play a pivotal role in crafting and implementing strategies for the transportation of goods and the deployment of our advanced energy storage systems. Your responsibilities will include developing a carrier network, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and delivering optimized logistics strategies that minimize costs, enhance reliability, and mitigate risks associated with the transport and deployment of our systems.

You will serve as the primary contact for both internal and external stakeholders regarding transportation, compliance, and logistics-related matters. The ideal candidate will leverage their extensive experience and industry knowledge to provide quantitative oversight and process-driven approaches to managing the movement of goods, while fostering positive and productive relationships with internal teams and external partners. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, this role is integral to our expanding Supply Chain organization and will collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, and Finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design logistics strategies and frameworks aimed at reducing costs and enhancing reliability for project deployment, encompassing inbound and outbound logistics, freight, warehousing, packaging, and tariffs.
  • Establish and maintain a dependable network of carriers and brokers to facilitate the flow of goods between suppliers, manufacturing sites, and customer project locations, utilizing in-depth knowledge of routes, modes, schedules, pricing models, and business requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations by overseeing packaging and documentation requirements for the transport of materials, including hazardous materials and oversized shipments.
  • Manage trade compliance, including maintaining customs documentation and reviewing HTS code classifications.
  • Integrate transportation management and data sharing between carrier and internal systems.
  • Conduct routine audits of carrier invoicing and work towards optimizing routing and accessorial charges.
  • Provide insightful recommendations to engineering and supply chain teams to inform product designs, optimize deployment methods, and minimize overall costs.
  • Regularly report on status, progress, cost trajectories, and potential risks.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in logistics or supply chain operations, with experience in high-volume manufacturing being advantageous.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of packaging, transportation, and trade compliance regulations.
  • Experience in creating RFQs and selecting carriers based on detailed criteria.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of successfully driving projects to completion and delivering results.
  • Motivated by complex challenges, eager to collaborate across teams, and willing to take on individual responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and communicate progress and strategic plans clearly.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, finance, or a related field.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US and willing to travel as necessary.
