Overview:

In light of the sensitive nature of the role and the confidentiality of client data, remote work options are not available for this position.

Role Purpose: Collaborates closely with disaster case managers to assess and/or develop cost projections for the repair and/or reconstruction of the primary residence of individuals affected by disasters.

These estimates may assist disaster-impacted clients in seeking additional community resources for repairs.

May also coordinate volunteer labor groups with contractors to ensure the proper sequence of repairs, focusing on aiding the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and disabled veterans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop repair cost estimates for damages directly resulting from declared disasters.
  • Engage with clients, vendors, and comparable estimates to formulate accurate repair costs for families.
  • Receive, input, and manage time entries and submissions.
  • Analyze blueprints and related documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Prepare estimates to assist in vendor or subcontractor selection.
  • Collaborate with Disaster Case Managers to ensure client satisfaction and understanding of estimates.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information regarding access, drainage, topography, and service availability such as water and electricity.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

A college degree is preferred, or an Associate's Degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience, or a High School Diploma with 6+ years of related experience.


Experience:
5-7 years of experience in cost estimation; proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required, including the development and use of spreadsheets.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the mission of the organization and uphold high standards of quality and excellence in their work; must thrive in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple projects and deadlines; excellent verbal and written communication skills along with customer interaction and presentation abilities are essential.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.


Attendance:
Regular and acceptable attendance is required as determined by the employer.

Licenses:
A valid Driver's License with a clean record is necessary.

Vehicle:
Must have daily access to a vehicle without prior notice.

Other Requirements:
Must be willing to travel to various locations as necessary. Must successfully pass criminal background checks. Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required to meet business needs is essential.

Must not pose a significant risk to the safety or health of oneself or others.
