Position Overview:

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for various construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and costs, as well as the ability to analyze project specifications and drawings to determine the overall cost of a project. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand the scope of work and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to develop comprehensive project estimates.
  • Solicit and review bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project specifications.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and provide value engineering solutions to enhance project profitability.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, including historical cost data and current market trends.
  • Prepare and present estimates to management, clients, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Monitor project costs during construction and provide regular updates to project managers and clients.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and bids for new projects.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in the commercial or residential sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and cost estimation techniques.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
