Position Overview:

The Vertex Company is seeking a skilled Aircraft Maintenance Technician I to support our aviation operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in aircraft engine maintenance and repair, specifically related to H-60 series power plants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct repairs, replacements, and overhauls of aircraft engines and associated components, including the installation and removal of Quick Engine Change (QEC) gear and Fuel Management Units (FMU).
  • Interpret and apply manufacturer’s documentation, maintenance manuals, and service bulletins to assess the feasibility of repairs or replacements for malfunctioning components.
  • Diagnose and rectify issues within aircraft engine systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Perform various tasks to maintain aircraft systems in accordance with operational standards.
  • May be designated as a CDI (Collaboration Development Initiative) as directed by site management.
  • Effectively prioritize tasks to adhere to maintenance schedules and quality standards.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain and service H-60 series power plant systems in support of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 31 RDT&E Programs, following relevant guidelines and instructions.
  • Utilize technical expertise to identify equipment malfunctions and implement solutions to restore functionality.
  • Evaluate the performance and reliability of both prototype and production modifications, recommending adjustments to enhance assembly and maintenance processes.
  • May be required to fulfill responsibilities in the Phase Shop as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Navy Class 'C' school in powerplants or equivalent training from USMC/USCG is required. Alternatively, three years of organizational level experience on the relevant aircraft may substitute for formal education.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Organizational Level Power Plant maintenance on similar aircraft is essential.
  • Three years of experience with the specific aircraft type is preferred, with at least two years within the last three years.
  • Engine turn qualified and Auxiliary Power Unit designated personnel must be at least Level II mechanics.
  • Must be eligible for Plane Captain certification as per the approved process for applicable aircraft types.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • A valid driver’s license and current Secret clearance are required, with the ability to maintain clearance throughout employment.
  • Willingness to work various shifts and travel as necessary.
