Diamond Foundry Inc. is at the forefront of addressing the thermal challenges inherent in today's most innovative technology sectors, including AI and cloud computing, electric vehicle power electronics, and advanced wireless communications. We have successfully created the world's first single-crystal diamond wafers and are committed to our vision of integrating diamonds into every chip. As a rapidly growing and profitable company, we have secured $515 million in funding and are executing a multi-billion dollar expansion strategy, focusing on one of the most sustainable forms of technology manufacturing: transforming greenhouse gases into diamond wafers using zero-emission energy.

We are seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Equipment and Automation Engineer to spearhead the implementation and enhancement of cutting-edge laser machinery at Diamond Foundry, which will be utilized across our diverse facilities. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams comprising mechanical, electrical, automation, optical, software, and systems engineers to refine and deploy these technologies throughout the organization. You will be responsible for developing standard operating procedures and manuals, as well as training technical personnel to optimize processes and provide ongoing technical support and improvements for our laser and related processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enhance hardware capabilities to execute innovative laser processes, ensuring the production of components with exceptional dimensional stability.
  • Lead major initiatives focused on equipment and automation process enhancements to facilitate manufacturing scalability.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for overseeing the optimization of system controls and data collection, with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Propose and guide hardware and software enhancement projects aimed at improving parts and systems for our teams.
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Physics (with a focus on materials, lasers, or optics), or Industrial Engineering, accompanied by 7+ years of relevant experience. Experience in the mass production of diamonds, semiconductors, or ceramics is highly advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of best practices in the design and manufacturing of optomechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting with systems such as G-code, ACSPL+, or Aerobasic Programming.
  • Experience in selecting and specifying motion hardware for high-precision laser applications, with a strong ability to create technical documentation.
  • Preferred qualifications include expertise in laser and optical system design and alignment, lighting and lens selection for machine vision, proficiency in Solidworks and CAM systems, the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, development of system error budgets, and experience with high-temperature optical liquids.

Compensation for this position ranges from $120,000 to $195,000 annually. The role is also eligible for company shares. Actual compensation may vary based on several factors, including a candidate's job responsibilities, experience, and location. We are open to considering higher-level candidates, and salary adjustments will be made accordingly.
