We are seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Equipment and Automation Engineer to oversee the implementation and enhancement of cutting-edge laser machinery across our various production facilities. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, automation, optical, software, and systems engineers, to advance and deploy these technologies throughout the organization. You will be responsible for developing standard operating procedures and manuals, as well as training technical personnel to optimize processes and provide ongoing technical support for our laser systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Enhance hardware capabilities to execute innovative laser processes, ensuring high dimensional accuracy of produced components.
- Lead major initiatives focused on equipment and automation enhancements to facilitate manufacturing scalability.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to manage the optimization of system controls and data acquisition, emphasizing continuous improvement.
- Propose and guide hardware and software enhancement efforts to improve component quality and system performance.
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Physics (with a focus on materials, lasers, or optics), or Industrial Engineering, coupled with 7+ years of relevant experience. Experience in the mass production of diamonds, semiconductors, or ceramics is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with best practices in the design and manufacturing of optomechanical systems.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting with systems such as G-code, ACSPL+, or Aerobasic Programming.
- Experience in selecting and specifying motion hardware for precision laser applications, along with the ability to create comprehensive technical documentation.
- Preferred qualifications include expertise in laser and optical system design and alignment, selection of lighting and lenses for machine vision, proficiency in Solidworks and CAM systems, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently.
Compensation for this position ranges from $120,000 to $195,000 annually, with eligibility for company shares. Actual compensation may vary based on several factors, including the candidate's job responsibilities, experience, and geographical location. We are open to considering candidates with higher qualifications, and salary adjustments will be made accordingly.
