Position Overview:

The Head of IT Risk Management is tasked with the formulation and execution of a comprehensive IT risk management strategy that aligns with the broader Enterprise Risk Management framework at Flagstar Bank. This role is pivotal in identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing both current and potential IT risks throughout the organization. The incumbent will oversee the management and monitoring of all IT and Cybersecurity regulatory concerns, ensuring that the firm's IT risk posture is continuously assessed and reported to executive management committees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and uphold a robust IT risk strategy and governance framework that integrates seamlessly with the Enterprise Risk Management initiatives. Supervise all activities related to IT risk, including risk control self-assessments (RCSA), risk reporting, and cybersecurity evaluations.
  • Compile and present IT and Cybersecurity Risk reports, metrics, and key risk indicators (KRIs) to the Technology Management Committee, ensuring that the CIO is well-prepared for discussions with the Board's Technology Committee.
  • Manage the lifecycle of IT and Cybersecurity regulatory matters, including audits and self-identified issues, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate escalation of risks.
  • Lead the IT Risk department, providing strategic direction and mentorship to team leaders. Engage in talent management activities such as performance evaluations, staff development, and succession planning.
  • Execute special projects and additional responsibilities as required, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required; a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CISA, CISM, CRISC, or CISSP are highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 12 years of IT experience, with at least 10 years focused on cybersecurity, governance, risk, and compliance.
  • Proven leadership experience, with at least 8 years managing IT professionals across diverse teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and IT governance frameworks (e.g., COBIT).
  • Strong analytical skills to assess and interpret IT risk data, coupled with the ability to develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex IT risk concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast of emerging IT risks and industry trends.
