Executive Chef Job Description

The Executive Chef is a pivotal role at D.C. Global Talent Inc., responsible for overseeing the culinary operations of our hotel. This includes managing the restaurant, banquets, catering, and in-room dining services. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective running of the kitchen, food production outlets, and stewarding, while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management: Establish daily priorities and assign production and prep tasks to staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  • Culinary Excellence: Oversee food preparation and presentation in all outlets, ensuring high-quality dishes and maintaining inventory control.
  • Menu Development: Develop and implement menus for the hotel, ensuring consistency and quality across all food items.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with sanitation standards, local, state, and federal regulations, and hotel policies.
  • Quality Control: Maintain control systems to ensure quality and portion consistency, monitor food shipments, and foster awareness of food preparation and quality.
  • Communication: Communicate with employees and managers to ensure operational needs are met and attend regular operational meetings.
  • Financial Management: Follow budgetary guidance for food cost and culinary labor metrics.
  • Maintenance and Sanitation: Oversee sanitation, maintenance, and proper use of all kitchen equipment.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure that necessary stocks are on hand at the right quality and quantity.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that all health and safety regulations are strictly adhered to.
  • Training and Development: Train culinary team on food quality and presentation in accordance with hotel standards.
Requirements:
  • Language Proficiency: Good reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • Experience: Minimum two years experience in a similar position with a full-service hotel or restaurant.
  • Certification: Foodservice certification is required.
  • Skills: Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail and speed, accuracy, and good judgment.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with co-workers as part of a team and with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility to work a varied schedule, which may include weekends and holidays.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds on own and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift.
