Job Summary

The AOPA Flying Club Manager is responsible for leading the development and growth of the AOPA Flying Club Network. This position requires a strong background in aviation and program management, with experience in developing and implementing successful programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Develop and implement strategies to grow and sustain the AOPA Flying Club Network, including creating and managing resources and benefits for network members.
  • Resource Management: Manage existing resources and develop new benefits for network members, including club giveaways, online information and resource libraries, and regulatory assistance.
  • Content Creation: Produce content and manage the production and deployment of the AOPA Flying Club Connector newsletter, collaborating with writers and the marketing team to publish an informative and relevant newsletter.
  • Research and Analysis: Work with the AOPA Research team to create, launch, and analyze data from targeted surveys, including the annual Flying Clubs survey, and create and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Event Planning: Manage the production of online and in-person flying club seminars and workshops, including location selection, scheduling, attendee registration, content creation, presentation, and overall event execution.
  • Travel and Representation: Travel as necessary to attend meetings, host events, and deliver presentations, representing AOPA and the Flying Club Network.
  • Internal Relationships: Provide and coordinate all AOPA internal relationships necessary to support the program, including internal production request coordination, online content management, schedule monitoring, legal assistance, and budget tracking.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with other You Can Fly staff on closely related programs, such as AOPA's flight training initiative and the Rusty Pilots program, and ensure contractors/consultants are properly managed and deliver on promised content/expertise, timeline, and budget.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least three years of relevant experience in an aviation-related position and direct experience with a flying club (personal or professional) is highly desirable.
  • Program Management: Demonstrated prior program management experience, with a strong background in developing and implementing successful programs.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Prior success in developing strong internal and external collaborative relationships, with experience managing multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment.
  • Skills: Strong project and time management skills, public speaking experience, excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, and highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Certifications: Airmen Certificate required, current FAA issued medical certificate or BasicMed qualification preferred, and CFI Certificate highly desirable.
