Job Title: Mine Technology Supervisor

Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for Kinross Gold as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. With over 25 years of operation, Fort Knox has produced over 8.5 million ounces of gold since its inception. In 2020, Kinross acquired Manh Choh - a project expected to commence production in 2024 and process ore at Fort Knox.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Plan and execute work activities to help meet production schedules and mining plans. Monitor adherence to plans.
  2. Manage a wireless network in the field.
  3. Coordinate, develop, and support technologies from all departments requiring access to a field wireless network.
  4. Manage field network cameras to facilitate operational needs.
  5. Evaluate network data to develop additional solutions to improve performance.
  6. Research and stay informed of newer technologies.
  7. Ensure implementation of new practices.
  8. Maintain open communication with the Mobile Maintenance group so that maintenance priorities are established.
  9. Coordinate efforts with Mine Supervisors and Maintenance personnel to ensure that goals are accomplished.
  10. Work closely with the Information Technology Supervisor and team to ensure alignment with Site wide technologies policies, procedures, and production.
  11. Ensure continuity of communication.
  12. Monitor and maintain accurate production records and employee files (i.e. daily production, evaluations, time cards, etc.).
  13. Identify and schedule training needs for the department as appropriate, keeping in mind safety and production goals.
  14. Ongoing training of all Mine Technology Technicians in the proper use of field technologies.
  15. Maintain a daily activity log.
  16. Exercise discretion and judgment in job performance.
  17. Must be production orientated.
  18. Conduct performance evaluations, recommend promotions, and carry out corrective actions as appropriate.
  19. Maintain a proper balanced budget.
  20. Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
  21. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
  22. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
  23. Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state.
  24. Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them.
  25. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
  26. Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform mathematical calculations, and keep records.
  2. Previous experience managing and supporting one or more of the following technologies is required: Wenco, Modular Mining Dispatch, Jigsaw Technologies, Caterpillar MineStar, and Caterpillar Caes/Terrain.
  3. Prefer 5 years' experience in the administration of Fleet Management Systems.
  4. Prefer 5 years' experience in Project Management.
Skills
  1. Proficient computer skills.
  2. General knowledge of mining methods and operating practices.
  3. Solid knowledge of IP networking, Radio, and GPS Theory.
  4. Experience and knowledge regarding FCC Regulations preferred.
  5. Previous equipment maintenance experience in the mining industry preferred.
  6. Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  7. Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  8. Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  9. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  10. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  11. May work holidays, weekends, and shift work as required.
Reporting Relationships

This position reports to the Regional IT Manager.
