Job Title: Human Resources Director

The Human Resources Director is a key member of the Heartland Food Products Group team, responsible for overseeing HR activities across multiple manufacturing plants in the Indianapolis, IN facility. This role requires strategic interaction with EVP Global Manufacturing, Quality and R&D to plan, direct, and coordinate HR initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • HR Policy Development: Develop, interpret, and apply company policies, benefits, practices, procedures, programs, and applicable laws to ensure consistency across all manufacturing facilities.
  • Employee Engagement: Serve as a link between management and employees, handling questions, interpreting policies, and assisting in resolving work-related problems.
  • Talent Acquisition: Directly manage the Talent Acquisition Department and the Suite 500 HR Coordinator, while indirectly managing Plant HR Managers and DC HRBP.
  • Workforce Planning: Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, and employee relations.
  • Safety and Quality: Understand, follow, and enforce all established safety, health, quality GMP, and company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.
  • Organizational Development: Advise managers on organizational policy matters, such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes.
  • Recruitment and Selection: Responsible for selection, recruitment, and interviewing of plant employees, working jointly with supervisory and department heads in the hiring process.
  • Training and Development: Interact with the Training Department to analyze training needs, design employee training, and development, including safety programs.
  • Employee Recognition: Plan and organize recognition programs to support Heartland Food Products Group's employee culture and community.
  • Disciplinary Action: Provide effective guidance to line and department staff, relating to employee concerns, problems, and disciplinary action to comply with company policies.
  • Temporary Workforce Management: Manage temporary workforce relationships, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, terminating employees, and advising on disciplinary procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or business administration/management.
  • Minimum of 8 years of HR experience, including 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • PHR preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and HRIS Systems.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, interacting with all levels of the organization.
  • Must be extremely organized, accurate, and detail-oriented.
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend.
  • Must possess visual acuity to document company records.
  • Continuous walking throughout the plant and distribution center.
  • Lifting to 40 pounds.
