Position Overview
The Manager of Cargo Operations plays a crucial role in driving our department towards operational excellence. Your expertise in safety, compliance, and efficient processes will be vital in enhancing our cargo operations. This position reports directly to the Regional Manager of Cargo Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all dimensions of cargo operations, including team management, budget allocation, facility upkeep, equipment handling, and customer service.
  • Design and implement continuous improvement strategies to elevate operational standards and customer satisfaction.
  • Promote a safety-first culture by conducting regular workplace inspections, identifying hazards, and formulating effective mitigation strategies.
  • Perform routine audits to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements set by various federal and state agencies.
  • Manage ULD inventory effectively.
  • Develop and distribute Cargo Manuals, Bulletins, and Alerts as necessary, alongside technical writing responsibilities.
  • Act as the station's expert on cargo systems.
  • Guide and enhance the skills of cargo agents in technical proficiency, customer service, and operational procedures.
  • Handle payroll, scheduling, recruitment, and attendance management for all team members.
  • Coordinate daily operations with Cargo Sales and other locations to uphold service standards.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, fostering professional growth and performance improvement.
  • Ensure all team members are current with mandatory training and certifications.
  • Encourage a workplace culture that aligns with our core values.
  • Engage in professional development and additional tasks as assigned by senior management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in cargo operations or a related field, demonstrating a solid understanding of cargo complexities.
  • A minimum of 1 year in a supervisory capacity, showcasing effective team leadership and influence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and adaptable to other necessary applications.
  • Completion of initial cargo training within three months of starting.
  • Ability to secure necessary airport badges and licenses.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective cross-functional interaction.
  • Proven ability to make informed decisions in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to work varied shifts and be on-call as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field.
  • Previous leadership experience in the cargo sector.
  • Track record of implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in promoting safety and compliance in the workplace.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and managing challenging situations.
