JOB FUNCTION:
As a frontline supervisor, you will oversee personnel engaged in the operation of the power system, which includes transmission and distribution activities, generation dispatch, outage management, field response, and data collection. You will be responsible for directing and training staff in established policies and procedures as well as the effective use of system tools. Your role will involve coordinating system activities to ensure safe, reliable, and economically efficient grid operations. You will initiate emergency responses when required and foster a competitive work culture focused on customer value and safety. You will also champion continuous improvement and serve as a subject matter expert and functional resource.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage daily operations under both normal and emergency conditions. You will coordinate work plans and ensure compliance with safety standards. Monitor energy resources and direct necessary adjustments to optimize grid performance. Review and verify work schedules, conduct coaching and mentoring, and prepare performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate switching orders and hold-offs, acting as the primary communication point during significant incidents. Collaborate with first responder agencies and address customer inquiries while assisting in data gathering and emergency responses.
  • Support the development of policies and procedures, operational technology systems, research, and field investigations. Participate actively in emergency response activities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge Requirements:
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical utility systems. Proficient in personal computer applications and utility policies and procedures.
Skills Requirements:
  • Ability to work rotating shifts. Strong communication skills, flexibility, and leadership capabilities. Must qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license.
Experience Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of experience in operating generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
