Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Medical Officer to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our senior management staff, you will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of our medical center and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making to drive the success of our medical center
  • Represent Medical Staff interests to Hospital Leadership and serve as a liaison between the two
  • Initiate, coordinate, and assist in ongoing Medical Staff/medical center projects and activities
  • Assist the Medical Staff organization in achieving its short- and long-term objectives
  • Coordinate and provide staffing for Medical Staff committee activities
  • Plan and implement programs to achieve Medical Staff goals
  • Provide leadership for capacity management initiatives to improve patient flow
  • Coordinate a system of patient care review to monitor physician performance and maintain physician privileges
  • Direct a medical center-wide Performance Improvement Program to track outcomes and communicate relevant information
  • Develop relationships with medical center and community physicians to support strategic initiatives
  • Establish short- and long-range objectives for assigned areas and implement tactical plans
  • Perform human resources responsibilities for staff, including interviewing, selection, and performance evaluations
  • Develop and recommend operating and capital budgets and control expenditures
Requirements
  • Doctorate Degree in Medicine
  • MD-DO license issued by the state in which the team member practices
  • Typically requires 10 years of experience in a clinical field as a practicing physician
  • Includes 5 years of leadership experience with medical staff or other physician groups, performance improvement, and quality programs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, negotiation, and diplomacy skills
  • Knowledgeable of contemporary practice issues within medicine
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, and evaluate healthcare and medical staff activities
  • Familiarity with all aspects of hospital operations
  • Knowledgeable in Information Systems and Database Management
  • Dynamic knowledge of outcomes measurement of clinical quality and utilization
