Job Overview

Primary Role: The individual will be responsible for supporting the fabrication and welding of structures within the facility or maintenance workshop. The goal is to ensure optimal efficiency and safety of mechanical equipment. This role involves assisting with the installation and upkeep of mechanical systems, as well as diagnosing and repairing equipment failures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead larger projects and secure necessary resources to fulfill work orders.
  • Organize and maintain the fabrication workshop, including raw materials, tools, and welding apparatus.
  • Expertise in stainless steel custom fabrication is essential:
  • Familiarity with shop machinery such as shears, press brakes, iron workers, notches, and band saws.
  • Proficient in T.I.G welding, particularly with light gauge sheet metal ranging from 18 gauge and above.
  • Ability to take precise measurements, create in-house drawings, and fabricate based on these or blueprints.
  • Comprehension of sheet metal layout and capability to fabricate fittings like square to round transitions, round elbows, eccentric reducers, and angled tee intersections.
  • Skilled in MIG and stick welding in both flat and vertical positions.
  • Willingness to perform field installations or repairs on equipment, including climbing and working at heights.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on motors and mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment during breakdowns.
  • Assist with the installation and modification of machinery.
  • Utilize a variety of hand and power tools effectively and maintain them properly.
  • Report directly to the Maintenance Manager, providing updates on projects, inquiries, challenges, and suggestions.
  • Set daily/weekly objectives in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Document detailed notes and seek clarification when uncertain about processes or projects.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at work.
  • Prioritize safety for oneself and colleagues.
  • Employ problem-solving skills and critical thinking to learn on the job and efficiently complete complex tasks.
  • Stay aware of the work environment, report issues, and contribute to developing robust systems and processes.
  • Request necessary resources or support to enhance work quality, safety, and efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Availability for early morning shifts and weekends as needed.
  • 2+ years of experience as a mechanic in an industrial environment preferred, or a mechanical degree from a high school or trade school.
  • Basic math and writing skills.
  • Proficient in maintaining industrial machinery.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate stairs throughout the day.
  • Dependable, goal-oriented, hardworking, with a positive attitude and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Capability to follow instructions accurately.
Education Requirements:

GED or High School Diploma is required.
