Position Overview

This hybrid role at UGI Utilities involves working in the office on select weekdays, with additional days potentially required for meetings and projects. The Financial Analyst II serves as a vital business partner, gaining a thorough understanding of the company's operations and presenting insights regarding risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations to senior management. This position plays a crucial role in financial resource planning and in analyzing actual performance against established plans. The analyst will be tasked with the preparation of precise and timely budgets, forecasts, and financial summaries, as well as communicating variance drivers to company leadership to facilitate informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate monthly financial statements for senior management, including operational reports that elucidate variances from budget and/or forecast. Engage with finance leadership to present insights on the factors driving these variances and to propose actionable recommendations.
  • Conduct monthly financial variance analysis for business line leaders and discuss the findings with them. Aid in their understanding of variance drivers and collaborate on potential actions in response to the results.
  • Assist in the formulation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts, including inputting these figures into the company's budgeting system. Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the budgeting and forecasting processes, enabling the finance function to deliver timely and accurate financial data to senior leaders for decision-making.
  • Provide necessary information for the company's rate cases and develop analyses and responses to inquiries from regulators in support of the company's rate base claims.
  • Develop and/or enhance business analytics metrics and reports, utilizing data to assess company performance and make recommendations for operational improvements.
Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Exhibits intellectual curiosity, problem-solving skills, accountability, business acumen, and enthusiasm.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across various teams, functions, and departments.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with proven experience in financial statement analysis, financial metrics, and a solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
  • Ability to independently manage workload and meet internal deadlines while ensuring high-quality, accurate outputs.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Advanced degrees or certifications such as MBA, CPA, CTP, or CMA are advantageous.
  • Experience with Hyperion Planning and/or SmartView is a plus.
