R&D Lab Technician (Polymer Compounding/Plastic)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Lab Technician to join our team in Leominster, MA. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting quality control tests, supporting product development, and maintaining ISO standards in a laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quality control tests on raw materials and finished products, maintaining detailed records.
  • Maintain a clean and organized lab environment.
  • Prepare and produce samples for new product development using equipment like blending machines, twin screw extrusion compounders, and injection molders.
  • Troubleshoot product development issues and resolve quality concerns.
  • Provide input during meetings, including communication, safety, and production discussions.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing practices to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Adhere to ISO 9001 standards to ensure product consistency and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform color analysis and matching for plastic products, ensuring alignment with client specifications.
  • Prepare and test color samples by blending pigments and additives to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Communicate with clients about color requirements and provide technical support.
  • Follow ISO 13485 standards for quality management systems in the medical device industry.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Plastics Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 1 year or more of polymer compounding experience in an R&D lab environment.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
