Patient Care Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at UMass Memorial Health. As a key member of our Emergency Department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in a safe, sensitive, and timely manner, adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
- Support the patient care process by performing various duties and procedures, including obtaining EKGs, collecting laboratory specimens, and preparing patients for surgery.
- Initiate, complete, and maintain accurate documentation, including medical records, physician orders, and departmental logs.
- Stock, maintain, and replace supplies as needed, adhering to infection control and sterile technique principles.
- Perform clerical and secretarial duties as required, including answering phones and responding to patient inquiries.
- Participate in departmental performance improvement and training activities, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Interact effectively with diverse populations, providing empathetic and compassionate care in stressful situations.
- Meet established productivity standards, facilitating efficient and effective workflow.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum one (1) year of CNA, EMT, CMA, or direct patient care experience required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control guidelines, and sterile techniques required.
- Strong attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and ability to read, write, and speak clearly in English required.
