Chief Financial Officer

The Virginia Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic financial leadership and management of the agency's budget, finance, procurement, and state tax credit programs. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of governmental accounting, auditing, and budgeting functions, as well as agency, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding financial operations, business processes, and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage the agency's operating budget
Provide financial guidance and support to senior leadership staff
Analyze and reconcile budget/financial transactions
Develop and implement internal controls and make recommendations for improvement
Communicate financial information effectively to non-technical audiences
Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major studies in accounting, business, financial management, public administration, or related curriculum
Extensive experience in executive level governmental accounting, budgeting, and financial management and reporting
Certification such as Certified Public Accountant preferred
