Position Summary

The Environmental Stewardship Ranger is an integral part of the Kaizen Lab team, contributing significantly to the management and restoration of local natural habitats and waterways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management and upkeep of various trails, ensuring they are safe and accessible for all visitors.
  • Engage with the public by providing information and answering inquiries about the conservation area.
  • Support educational initiatives by leading groups, including volunteers and youth programs, in outdoor activities.
  • Participate in the maintenance of sustainable landscaping features, including rain gardens and other eco-friendly installations.
  • Contribute to project-based initiatives aimed at enhancing public spaces through the installation of amenities such as benches and picnic areas.
  • Help manage diverse habitats, including meadows and wetlands, ensuring their health and sustainability.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the conservation area by managing waste disposal and participating in litter collection efforts.
  • Assist in the collection of data related to waste management for environmental research and policy development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Must be a resident of the local area.
  • Preference for candidates with a background in land management or environmental education.
  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to community service.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and take initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with visitors and participants.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and walk several miles daily.
  • COVID-19 vaccination or willingness to be vaccinated is required.
