Job Overview:


The Lead Financial Accountant is tasked with supervising and directing the daily accounting operations, ensuring the precision of financial data, and aiding in the formulation of financial reports.

This position encompasses intricate reconciliations, financial evaluations, and involvement in the month-end closing procedures.

The Lead Financial Accountant will also mentor junior accounting personnel and facilitate the audit process, guaranteeing adherence to accounting principles and organizational policies.


Core Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Evaluation:
Compile and assess monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Conduct financial evaluations, including variance assessments, trend evaluations, and budget-to-actual comparisons.

Month-End and Year-End Closing:
Oversee and implement the month-end closing process, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.

Ensure the prompt and precise closing of the general ledger each month.

Reconcile complex balance sheet and income statement accounts, ensuring appropriate documentation and resolution of discrepancies.

General Ledger Management:
Supervise the posting and review of journal entries, including adjustments for revenue, expenses, and intercompany transactions.

Guarantee the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger by conducting regular account reconciliations.

Fixed Asset Oversight:
Maintain and reconcile fixed asset accounts, including depreciation schedules and capital asset tracking.

Ensure all fixed assets are accurately recorded and accounted for in the financial system.

Audit Assistance:
Prepare schedules and provide documentation for internal and external audits.

Support the annual financial audit, tax audit, and compliance audits as necessary.

Internal Controls & Compliance:
Review and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Ensure all accounting activities are in accordance with GAAP and other applicable standards.

Tax Compliance:
Assist with the preparation of state and local tax filings, including sales and use tax returns.

Collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance.

Accounts Payable/Receivable Management:
Oversee and support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring proper coding and reconciliation.

Monitor cash flow, collections, and the aging of receivables.

Mentoring and Leadership:
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and processes.

Assist with the training and development of the accounting team.

Budgeting & Forecasting:
Participate in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Monitor and analyze actual vs. budget performance and provide recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).

CPA certification (preferred).

Experience:
4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior or supervisory role.

Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and accounting software.

Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
