Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Lead Financial Strategist serves as a pivotal supervisory component to the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) leadership team. This role is accountable for executing daily operations, special initiatives, and ad-hoc reporting to provide insightful analysis, strategic financial models, and metrics that enhance and optimize business decisions. The position plays a crucial role in identifying trends, conducting necessary analyses, and ensuring the accuracy of financial reports for the organization. This role is vital in supporting organizational objectives and embodying our core values of Excellence, Accountability, Transparency, and Stewardship (EATS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly updates reporting files to ensure timely access to information for decision-makers.
  • Mentors and develops team members, fostering a pipeline for future leadership.
  • Tracks and reports on key performance indicators across various business sectors.
  • Provides analytical support and financial insights for sales, operations, and overhead departments.
  • Draws conclusions, formulates recommendations, and prepares presentations for stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with operational teams to validate assumptions and assess potential impacts.
  • Enhances and maintains existing reports, databases, and queries.
  • Updates and manages performance reports related to customers, products, and business operations.
  • Utilizes various IT platforms and analytical tools for reporting and analysis.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for value creation.
  • Recognizes cost-saving opportunities throughout the organization.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Recruits, interviews, and trains new personnel.
  • Oversees daily departmental workflows.
  • Conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations.
  • Manages disciplinary actions and terminations in line with company policies.
  • Ensures proper review and approval of timecards.
  • Collaborates with safety teams to promote a positive safety culture.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including GAAP and accrual-based accounting.
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools and enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Demonstrated analytical, financial modeling, and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in problem-solving with sound judgment based on accurate analyses.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting, FP&A functions, budgeting, or related fields, preferably within the food or agriculture sector.
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Power BI and basic familiarity with Famous Software is preferred.
