Overview:
The Assistant Buyer plays a crucial role in the procurement process, ensuring efficient operations within the supply chain. This position involves collaboration with various internal stakeholders to meet their procurement needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process requisitions using SAP, accommodating multiple shipping locations.
- Engage with internal customers to address their procurement requirements.
- Support Buyers in analytical tasks and transactional activities.
- Participate in cross-training within the procurement department to gain a comprehensive understanding of daily operations.
- Facilitate the creation and setup of new items in SAP.
- Maintain purchase orders and manage release adjustments, including modifications to existing POs.
- Confirm delivery schedules and lead times with suppliers.
- Establish price breaks in SAP.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, efficiency, and pricing.
- Conduct research on potential new suppliers as time allows.
- Negotiate cost-saving opportunities whenever feasible.
- Oversee assigned suppliers, categories, and inventory management.
- Uphold a positive representation of Sunsweet Growers.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: An associate degree is preferred.
Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years in an office environment, with experience in manufacturing, purchasing, accounts payable, or receiving being advantageous.
Personal Skills:
- Strong organizational abilities
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Capability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Adaptability to changing circumstances
- Proficient time management skills
