JOB OVERVIEW

The role involves ensuring the effective implementation of the evidence-based programming known as the "Indigenous Integrated Correctional Program Model." Key responsibilities include:

  • Actively participating in 50% of program delivery;
  • Facilitating access to spiritual and cultural activities;
  • Ensuring support from family and community is established;
  • Providing oversight, coaching, and constructive feedback to program facilitators;
  • Engaging in additional support sessions as required (individual meetings, parole hearings, assessments, etc.);

Additionally, you will be responsible for collecting and maintaining data, as well as producing necessary statistical reports.

The focus will be on developing strategies that ensure the evidence-based practices and programming offered by the Department of Corrections effectively address the needs of the Indigenous population, including:

  • Comprehensive development and implementation of a continuum of care and services for Indigenous individuals from intake through reentry;
  • Enhancing collaboration with Indigenous stakeholders, communities, and governmental entities;
  • Identifying systemic barriers faced by Indigenous offenders and improving the cultural competence of the Department to address these challenges.
