Indian Student Achievement Specialist

Job Overview:

This position provides support for students and schools in increasing the opportunity for American Indian students to receive fair, equitable, and high-quality education that will contribute to decreasing the American Indian student achievement gap. This position will support the implementation of evidence-based and distinct Indigenous strategies that are defined through the whole child approach of school improvement and more specifically within the framework of the Tribal Student Achievement, Relations, and Resiliency Unit. This includes but is not limited to operational support, family and community engagement, cultural and self-identity infusion, and implementation of Indian Education For All (IEFA) integration, health and wellbeing including social, and emotion supports, school climate, increasing student voice and youth leadership opportunities, and instructional strategies that support highly effective teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of evidence-based and distinct Indigenous strategies.
  • Provide operational support, family and community engagement, cultural and self-identity infusion, and implementation of Indian Education For All (IEFA) integration.
  • Support health and wellbeing including social, and emotion supports, school climate, increasing student voice and youth leadership opportunities, and instructional strategies that support highly effective teaching and learning.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in K-12 Education, curriculum, instruction, Indian education, Native American studies, or related degree.
  • Three years' experience in Education, Native American Studies, or related experience.
