Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant II to join our team at UC San Diego. As a Medical Assistant II, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient care duties under the supervision of licensed nursing staff and healthcare providers.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage patient system screens.
  • Accurately bill patients and manage environmental care functions.
  • Manage equipment and supplies, and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Provide non-licensed medical support to healthcare providers in an outpatient setting.
Requirements
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
  • BART or BLS certification at time of hire, with commitment to obtain BART within six months.
  • Previous experience in a medical setting.
  • Knowledge of computer operations, including IDX skills, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Medical terminology certificate and/or training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a Medical Assistant in Women's Health.
  • Proficient in Ob/Gyn terminology.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record Systems (EMRs).
  • Ability to multitask between front desk and back-office duties.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be available for weekend, on-call rotation.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
