Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, the Medical Laboratory Assistant II plays a vital role in the collection of specimens from children, both inpatients and outpatients. This role involves processing tests, analyzing referral tests, preparing and shipping specimens, registering patients, and entering lab test orders into hospital and departmental computer systems. Additionally, the MLA II is responsible for microbiology specimen processing and departmental instrument maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collecting and processing specimens from children
  • Processing tests and analyzing referral tests
  • Preparing and shipping specimens
  • Registering patients and entering lab test orders
  • Maintaining departmental instruments and equipment
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
  • One year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Phlebotomy certificate
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (AHA)
  • Prior pediatric experience in phlebotomy, specimen accessioning, and processing, patient registration, and lab test order entry
Compensation:

The current salary range for this position is $25.01 to $34.11. A candidate's placement in the range will be determined based on the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
