Job Summary

The Director of Financial Aid and Veteran Services is a key member of the Enrollment Services Leadership team at Mount Mary University. This position oversees all strategies and activities related to the awarding and management of Financial Aid, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and administer policies, procedures, and reporting for Mount Mary University's financial aid program, ensuring full compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Manage all full-time, part-time, and graduate financial aid activity, including packaging, application processes, adjustments, and student/parent financial aid counseling.
  • Collaborate with leadership to establish effective financial aid policies, practices, and communication strategies to support recruitment, retention, and net tuition revenue goals.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate Financial Aid Office staff, ensuring exceptional customer service and compliance with regulations.
  • Manage the Financial Aid Office operating budget and the University's Scholarships and Grants budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to develop and maintain financial aid information for new and current students, including printed materials, website content, and digital platforms.
  • Facilitate an annual review of new and returning students' financial aid experiences, updating policies and procedures to enhance and streamline the student financial aid experience.
  • Serve as the chief representative to WASFAA and NASFAA, encouraging staff participation in membership opportunities for professional development and compliance training.
  • Counsel students and families in financial planning options, evaluating special circumstances and aid appeals.
  • Work with the Enrollment Services team to establish financial aid programming and events for prospective and currently enrolled students.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Federal and State aid regulations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and university policies.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, reporting to internal and external constituencies as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Financial Aid administrator required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence, with experience working with underrepresented students and students from at-risk backgrounds.
  • Outstanding verbal, writing, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with prospective students, Mount Mary students, and other Mount Mary offices.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize projects.
  • Familiarity with Power Faids and Jenzabar preferred.
