Job Summary

The HR Generalist provides critical support to various areas of the College, including payroll, performance management, benefits, compensation, recruitment, employee relations, and HR policies. This role requires a strong understanding of HR principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide timely support to employees, faculty, and staff on HR-related topics, including payroll, benefits, leave, compensation, and performance management.
  2. Manage HR databases and work collaboratively with the HR team to navigate all phases of the employee life cycle.
  3. Oversee the full life cycle recruiting process, from requisition to onboarding.
  4. Assist managers with recruitment and interview processes, including phone screens, job postings, and scheduling applicants.
  5. Conduct data analysis to inform HR metrics, such as average time to hire and employee turnover rates.
  6. Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  7. Support the performance review process, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  8. Maintain accurate employee records and files.
  9. Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and general HR matters.
  10. Schedule and conduct new employee orientation activities.
  11. Verify I-9 documentation and maintain files.
  12. Manage Paid Time Off leave and short-term disability records.
  13. Effectively resolve HR-related concerns and communicate policies and procedures to employees.
  14. Collaborate with the CHRO to revise HR guidelines, processes, and procedures.
  15. Support employee engagement initiatives, such as recognition programs and service awards.
  16. Ensure compliance with state, federal, and MOU requirements.
  17. Administer Family Medical Leave (FMLA) and unemployment insurance.
  18. Develop and implement affirmative action and equal opportunity programs.
  19. Collaborate with the State of Maryland Worker's Compensation representative to ensure accurate data and records.
  20. Manage workplace accident data and comply with OSHA 300 and 310 reporting guidelines.
  21. Support HR audits and year-end close of the HR office.
Requirements
  • AA degree in HR management or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar HR Generalist or HRM position.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office, Workday, FMIS, or web-based electronic payroll systems.
