About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Bridge Structural Engineer to join our dynamic Capital District team. This role can be based in any of our Capital District offices, including Washington, DC, and Herndon, VA.

Your Impact

As a Bridge Structural Engineer, you will be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and contribute to a growing organization that meets client objectives and solves challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform professional bridge/structural engineering work, including development and drafting of plans and details using CAD software.
  • Prepare quantity and cost estimates, structural analysis and design calculations, and review drawings to ensure compliance with design intent and specifications.
  • Assist more experienced engineers with broader engineering activities, prepare technical studies, reports, and design document packages, and participate in incorporating advanced modeling techniques.
  • Verify the characteristics of a site, provide technical assistance on securing structural soundness, and generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures, complete training on assigned tasks, and exercise responsible and ethical decision-making.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering discipline and prior structural or civil design experience.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Knowledge of engineering analysis, design, and practices, including rehabilitation and new design.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills, effective self-leadership, and ability to learn new techniques.
  • Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Experience with discipline-specific design software.
Preferred Qualifications

We also welcome candidates with:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering License.
  • Master's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Preferred experience with rail bridges.
  • Relevant engineering experience through internships, working knowledge/experience, and/or educational projects or studies.
