Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Phleb/Lab Tech to join our team as a Phlebotomy Specialist | Patient Care Coordinator. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for performing daily lab operations, interacting with healthcare professionals, and providing exceptional patient care and customer service.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in phlebotomy, laboratory operations, and patient care. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing daily lab operations, including collections, sample processing, result reporting and distribution, and clerical duties as required to maintain efficient workflow.
- Interacting with physician partners, hospital personnel, volunteers, co-workers, and patients regarding specimens and orders coming into MHDL and Core Laboratory Services, and reporting results according to policies and procedures.
- Complying with policies, procedures, and initiatives of MHDL, laboratory services, the hospital, and system, understanding, communicating, and complying with standards and conditions set forth by various governmental and accrediting agencies.
- Performing duties in a manner to promote quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction, while promoting safety, cost efficiency, and a commitment to the PI process.
- Providing technical and procedural support to other phlebotomy staff and locations as needed.
- Ensuring safe care to patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
- Promoting individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, and supporting department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization.
- Demonstrating commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences, modeling Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Phlebotomy certification from an approved medical trade school program (American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) Board of Certification, American Certification Agency (ACA), American Medical Technologist (AMT), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or American Society of Phlebotomy Technician (ASPT)).
- CPR certification.
- One (1) year of clinical work experience.
- Prior experience in a reference lab or customer service setting.
- Technical and customer-focused vocabulary.
- Proficient typing/keyboard skills.
- A positive can-do attitude and ability to provide guidance and technical expertise to other employees in the department.
- A commitment to patient satisfaction and quality care.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, based on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
Location
This role is based in Houston, Texas, and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
