At DC Water, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Coordinator, Construction Safety to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of employees and contractors within our campuses and operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct regular safety inspections to identify hazards and potential risks
- Implement safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Provide safety training to employees on topics such as proper equipment usage, emergency procedures, and hazard recognition
- Develop and maintain safety manuals, guidelines, and instructional materials to support training initiatives
- Assist with investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement safety improvement initiatives and programs
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety measures and adjust policies and procedures as necessary
- Maintain records and documentation related to safety inspections, training sessions, and incident investigations
- Five (5) years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment
- High school diploma or GED
- Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and engage operational employees
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ANSI)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications
- Data analysis and report generation from safety risk systems
- Associate degree in a relevant field such as Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline
- Experience in conducting safety inspections and hazard risk reduction mitigation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
